IFEMA Madrid 3-waste recycling bin

Recycling in large spaces

For Feria de Madrid (IFEMA), the client's premise was the need to implement a recycling system for users.

IFEMA is a very busy venue during events, so the proposal from Unnom's Design Department had to be for a robust element that was also easy and practical to maintain and empty.

After studying the possible distribution of containers in the IFEMA spaces and analyzing user traffic, it was decided to design a 3-waste bin for PLASTIC, WASTE, and PAPER with a total capacity of 120 liters (40 liters per type of waste).
The container designed for IFEMA is a metal unit consisting of a body and a single hinged lid for the three types of waste.
The exterior has an architectural-quality epoxy paint finish, which also provides protection.

The body is made of steel and has three galvanized steel inner buckets, facilitating the removal of bags during emptying operations.
The 2.5 mm steel top cover with three holes is attached to the body by three retaining hinges, and each hole has a conical aluminum element incorporated on the inside to facilitate self-extinguishing in the event of an accidental fire (self-extinguishing certificate available).

The design of the container for IFEMA is highly versatile and can be resized, which has led to the creation of the SIVA family of recycling containers in the UNNOM catalog, with containers for 1 to 5 types of waste.
Each of the holes in the top lid has three vinyl stickers to identify the different types of waste.
Dimensions: 766 x 318 x 743 mm
Capacity: 120 l (3 x 40 l).
